Srinagar, Sep 07: Political leaders on Thursday greeted the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the eve of Krishna Janmashtami.
People’s Democratic Party president and former chief minister of J&K Mehbooba Mufti in her message highlighted the significance of Lord Krishna’s teachings of love, compassion, and righteousness, which continue to inspire millions.
She made a special mention of the Kashmiri Pandit community, who celebrate this occasion as “Zaram Satam” in Kashmir and emphasised the importance of preserving the diverse cultural heritage of the region and fostering harmony among its communities.
“On this auspicious day, let us all remember Lord Krishna’s timeless wisdom and his call for unity and harmony. May this festival of Janmashtami bring joy and prosperity to every home, and may the spirit of togetherness strengthen the bonds of our society,” she remarked.
Krishna Janmashtami, celebrating the birth of Lord Krishna, holds a special place in the hearts of millions across the world, transcending boundaries and fostering a sense of unity in diversity, Mufti said.
Apni Party President Syed Mohammed Altaf Bukhari in his greetings said, “I wish the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami shower blessings and empower the people of Jammu and Kashmir by bringing them together.”
He prayed that the occasion would bring peace, and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir. “These religious festivals provide an opportunity for the people to realise the importance of interdependence in society,” he said.
Former cabinet minister and Apni Party senior vice president Ghulam Hassan Mir hoped that the festival would bring peace and prosperity, health and good fortune in the lives of the people.
He said the festival keeps the thread of unity intact in the society where people of different faiths share joy and happiness with each other. Mir prayed for peace, harmony and amity among the people of all the regions of Jammu and Kashmir.
