Jammu, Feb 29: The Jammu & Kashmir Police rewarded a sum of rupees three lakh to a person who provided crucial information leading to the recovery of a Pakistani drone by security forces in the Ramgarh sector of Samba district.
In a ceremony jointly organized by the Samba Police and BSF, Senior Superintendent of Police Samba, Vinay Kumar, JKPS, presented a cheque of rupees three lakh to the informant on behalf of ADGP Jammu Zone. The event was attended by IG BSF D.K Boora, DIG BSF Jammu Sector Chitter Pal, CO BSF 148 Bn. Kamal Rawat, Tehsildar Vijaypur, SDPO Vijaypur, SHO Ramgarh, along with other dignitaries and residents from village Dug and adjoining areas. This reward was conferred in line with the recently announced policy by DGP J&K.
The informant, a local resident of the village Nandpur, spotted a suspicious object near Border Out Post (BoP) Chamliyal on January 18, 2024. Upon noticing the drone, he immediately alerted the nearest BSF unit, leading to the swift recovery of the Pakistani surveillance drone equipped with a camera from the informant’s field.
Addressing the gathering, SSP Samba said public cooperation is crucial in combating narco-terrorism sponsored by Pakistan. He said DGP has announced various rewards for those providing information on trans-border tunnels, drones, narcotics, terror activities and terrorists.
IG BSF engaged with the local populace, urging them to remain vigilant and offering full support to those residing near the International Border. Ex-BDC Chairman Ramgarh, Darshan Singh, also thanked the J&K Police for incentivizing residents to assist security forces in thwarting anti-national elements’ malicious intentions.
The recipient of the reward expressed gratitude to the J&K Police for recognizing his contribution and pledged continued service to the nation.
The J&K Police recently announced various cash rewards for individuals providing actionable intelligence on a range of security threats, including trans-border tunnels, drones, narcotics, and terrorist activities.
