Srinagar, July 27:Chief Secretary Dr.Arun Kumar Mehta stated that the law and order situation in Jammu and Kashmir is currently at its lowest, and the region is safer than it has been in the past.
He was addressing the students at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Srinagar OmporaBudgam during a two-day student orientation program.
During his speech, DrMehta emphasized that despite what may be portrayed in the media, J&K is a safe place to live in. He assured the incoming students, especially those coming from outside the region, that they should feel comfortable as the state is one of the safest places in the country.
Dr. Mehta highlighted the hospitality of the people in the region, citing the fact that the last time a tourist was hurt in J&K was several decades ago. There have been no reported cases of crimes against tourists in the valley, he added. The Chief Secretary praised the locals’ willingness to help tourists during natural calamities, which further contributes to the safety and security of visitors.
The CS urged the students to embrace and enjoy all four seasons of Kashmir, urging them to rid their minds of any negative perceptions about the region. He emphasized that J&K has made significant progress, and the current situation is much better than in the past.
Addressing the students, Director General RohitKansal expressed his gratitude to Dr.Arun Kumar for attending the program at NIFT. He stated that NIFT Srinagar is the newest addition to the NIFT family and holds a special place in their hearts. Being the youngest campus, it offers unique opportunities to innovate and carve a new path for itself.
DG Kansal highlighted that NIFT Srinagar campus is spread over an extensive 20-acre land, larger than many other NIFT campuses across the country.
The event was also attended by Vikramjit Singh, Communication Secretary, J&K, AkshayLabroo, Deputy Commissioner, Budgam, and other dignitaries.
