J&K emerges as a tourism hub, leaves terrorism behind: LG Sinha

Srinagar, July 14:
In a significant address during the valedictory function of the Multimedia Exhibition organized by the Central Bureau of Communication, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinhasaid that the era of hartal calls at the behest of neighbouring countries in Jammu and Kashmir is now a thing of the past. He highlighted that educational institutions in the region now function normally all year round.
Lt. Governor Sinha, addressing a large gathering at Sri Pratap (SP) Higher Secondary School, emphasized the success of the administration’s concrete efforts in restoring peace and tranquillity. He stressed that development is only possible with a peaceful atmosphere and urged students to study in a conducive environment. Sinha expressed confidence in the youth of Jammu and Kashmir, stating that they hold the key to India’s prosperous future.
Underlining the transformative changes taking place in the region, Lt. Governor Sinha noted that Jammu and Kashmir has become a thriving tourism hub, surpassing its previous reputation as a terrorist hotspot. Last year alone, over 1.28 million tourists visited the region, and this year’s numbers are expected to exceed 2 million. Sinha also highlighted the entrepreneurial spirit, with more than 500 new businesses launching daily in J&K.
Crediting the guidance of Prime Minister NarendraModi, Lt. Governor Sinha remarked that Jammu and Kashmir now stands tall on development parameters, filled with self-confidence. He commended the inclusive development initiatives of the government, which have empowered marginalized sections of society and fostered an aspirational society.
Looking towards the future, Lt. Governor Sinha emphasized the collective responsibility to create a vibrant Jammu and Kashmir, where every city and village can aspire higher and achieve their dreams. He lauded the National Education Policy 2020, recognizing its potential to shape the country’s future.
Concluding his address, Lt. Governor Sinha highlighted the progress made in various sectors and the successful implementation of centrally sponsored and UT sector schemes. He expressed optimism about achieving the goal of providing tap water to every household by the end of the current financial year.
The event was attended by senior officers of the Civil Administration, Police, and Central Bureau of Communication, as well as teachers, students, and youth in large numbers. Lt. Governor Sinha also visited stalls set up by various departments, showcasing the government’s numerous initiatives and welfare programs.
Chief of Army Staff calls on LG
Srinagar, July 14: General Manoj Pande, Chief of Army Staff called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhavan today.
The Chief of Army staff and the Lt Governor held extensive discussion on various security issues.
The Army Chief was accompanied by Lt General Upendra Dwivedi, GOC-in-C, Northern Command and Lt General Rajiv Ghai, GOC 15 Corps.
