Srinagar, Apr 19: Jammu and Kashmir Bank and the police department have been urged by Arun Malhotra, an analyst and part of the Indian national football team, to take the initiative and establish a well-structured women’s football team in Jammu and Kashmir. Malhotra emphasized the need for more women coaches, referees, administrators, and teams to enhance the graph of success in JK women’s football.
Malhotra also recommended that Jammu and Kashmir Bank start an exclusive academy and football team for women and that the J&K police department establish a women’s football team to encourage women to take sports as a profession. He further urged the government to come up with new incentives and schemes for providing jobs to the best women footballers.
Malhotra stressed that the government, private sector, and corporate sector need to collaborate to open more academies and create a talent pool in J&K. He also emphasized the need for a Scouts department to identify natural talent in far-off villages.
The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has promised to strengthen women’s football as a part of its Vision 2047 document, and J&K is a part of the same. Malhotra stated that a structured women’s football with proper infrastructure is needed to raise the standard of women’s football in Jammu and Kashmir, and with the execution of all plans timely, a significant change will be felt on the ground.
