Srinagar, Oct 03: Janata Dal United (JD-U) president for Jammu & Kashmir, GM Shaheen on Thursday expressed heartfelt gratitude to the voters who supported the party in the recent elections.
Addressing a press conference here, Shaheen acknowledged the trust reposed in JD(U) and reassured that his party remains committed to fulfilling its electoral promises, as outlined in its manifesto.
“We will work tirelessly to address the concerns and aspirations of the people of Jammu & Kashmir,” he asserted.
However, Shaheen expressed concern over incidents of alleged violence and intimidation against political activists. “Some frustrated elements have resorted to assaults on our workers, which is unacceptable,” he said, appealing for peaceful democratic conduct.
On a positive note, the JD(U) leader praised the officials for their cooperation and support during the election process. “We appreciate the efficient and impartial conduct of the elections,” he said.
Shaheen announced the appointment of Harpreet Singh from Jammu as the new General Secretary of JD(U) J&K unit. “Harpreet’s experience and dedication will strengthen our party’s presence in the region,” he said.
Accompanying Shaheen were the party’s chief spokesperson Liyakat Ali, State Youth President Amjid Rizvi and other senior party leaders who shared their optimism about the future growth and success of JDU in the region.
