Jammu, Oct 08: Jammu, the ‘City of Temples’, is soon going to have a two-kilometre-long most decorative walkway park with seating, parking, yoga, toilet blocks and other modern facilities by the end of this year.
This will be the first-of-its-kind park here which is being developed on both sides of the Ranbir Canal under the Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL) Project. The walkway park starts from near the Regional Research Laboratory (RRL) right up to Toph near BSF Paloura.
“We have no such park in Jammu as of now and it will be the first of kind attraction for the people in the City of Temples,” Vivek Chopra, AEE, JSCL told Rising Kashmir. He said this “unique park” in Jammu will be the most modern and people-friendly.
The work was started in November last year and is scheduled to be completed by December this year. The total cost of the project on both sides of the Ranbir Canal is Rs 20,000 crores.
Around 75 percent of work on this “ultra-modern” park has been completed and the rest will be completed by December, Chopra said.
The park will have decorative seating arrangements all along the walkway, decorative lighting on both sides of Ranbir Canal, yoga platforms, foot over bridge and most importantly the parking facility, which is one of the main concerns for the people of the city.
Apart from this, the park will also be having gym facilities and children’s amusement material with roof coverings during rain, the AEE said.
