Jammu, Nov 28: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir UT has finalised the fare charges for the passengers traveling in the ultra modern e-buses in both Jammu and Kashmir with additional surcharge of GST.
The fare charges finalised are higher than the charges paid by the passengers travelling in the SRTC buses and also in private public transport vehicles like matadors and the buses.
“The fares finalised by the government for the e-buses are slightly higher as these high-tech buses are Air Conditioned (AC) and also have the heating system,” General Manager, Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL), Ashish Anand informed Rising Kashmir.
As per the fare charge list finalised by the government, the passengers will have to pay Rs 10 for travelling a distance of 10 Km compared to the SRTC buses which is 8.47 for 3 kms.
The hike in fare charges from Rs 8.47 to Rs 10 is due to AC and heating system, which is mandatory as per the laid down guidelines.
For travelling a distance between 03-05 Kms in e-buses, the passengers will have to pay Rs 15,while for a distance of 05-10 kms in the e-buses, the passengers will be charged Rs 20.
For a distance between 10-15 kms, the passengers travelling in the e-buses will have to pay Rs 25. In another slab of 15-20 Kms, the passengers will have to pay Rs 30 for travelling in the e-buses.
The passengers travelling a distance of 20-25 kms in the e-buses will have to pay Rs 35, while the passengers travelling a distance of 25-35 kms will have to pay Rs 40 as fare charge.
The fare charges have been fixed by the government for the 75 e-buses of 9m mtr dimension, which will cover almost all the areas/routes within the Jammu City (i.e intra-city).
“The preliminary routes within the Jammu city have been defined for the e-buses, while the talks for some of the remaining routes to cover the entire city with the services of high-tech e-buses have been going on with the RTO,” the General Manager told, while adding, “the Old Jammu city is still a problem as its is difficult for the 9mtr buses to move there”.
