Traffic authorities on Monday allowed only one-way traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway (NH) in consideration of commuters’ safety and the poor condition of the road.
A J&K Traffic Police official said, Jammu Srinagar National Highway opens for One-Way traffic from Jammu to Srinagar after a two-day closure.
“Light motor vehicles (LMVs) are permitted to cross Nagrota until 12 PM; no vehicles will be allowed beyond this time”, he said.
The 270-km Highway, the only all-weather road linking Kashmir with the rest of the country, was blocked at over half a dozen places between Nashri and Banihal from past two days.
Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline, overtaking can lead congestion.
Moreover, people are advised/requested not ply against advisory/traffic plan in view of possible traffic congestion because of narrow carriage way between Nashree and Banihal on Jammu-Srinagar NHW.
