Srinagar, Mar 24: The Jammu Smart City project has incurred an expenditure of Rs 815.37 crore so far, with Rs 830.98 crore released under the Smart City Mission. The government has also addressed over 700 complaints, including issues related to e-Bus operations, DDN plates, and infrastructure development.
This information was shared in response to a question by Ch Vikram Randhawa with the Chief Minister, who is also the Minister in charge of the Housing and Urban Development Department, providing the details.
The government said the funds have been utilized for various urban development projects, with expenditures covering construction, infrastructure upgrades, and administrative costs.
The year-wise breakdown of funds shows that in 2018-19, Rs 74.50 crore was released but remained unspent. In 2019-20, Rs 6.40 crore was allocated, with an expenditure of Rs 52 crore. The financial year 2020-21 saw the release of Rs 68 crore, with Rs 75.18 crore utilized. In 2021-22, Rs 107.01 crore was allocated, and Rs 128.05 crore was spent. The year 2022-23 witnessed Rs 185.58 crore released, with Rs 192.61 crore utilized. In 2023-24, Rs 267.03 crore was allocated, and Rs 225.63 crore was spent. As of 2024-25, Rs 122.46 crore has been released, with an expenditure of Rs 138.30 crore.
The details of private vendors, contractors, and agencies engaged in the execution of works under the Smart City Mission. Additionally, information about staff involved in the project, including the Chief Executive Officer.
Regarding public grievances, the government stated that while no major complaints were recorded, 400 complaints were received regarding DDN plate installations and corrections, with 350 of them resolved. Additionally, 300 complaints were related to e-Bus operations, ticketing, and driver misbehaviour, resulting in penalties imposed in 285 cases. Furthermore, 16 complaints about table-top crossings, waterlogging, drainage issues, non-functional decorative poles, and traffic disruptions were also addressed and resolved.
The Jammu Smart City project continues to progress under government supervision, ensuring efficient execution and timely resolution of public grievances.
