Jammu, June 29: The Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Jammu, under the leadership of its Chairman Rahul Sahai, Sunday organised the ICC Jammu 10K and 5K Run, themed “Run for Peace and Innovation.” The event, flagged off from the Jammu University Sports Complex to Satwari and back, witnessed spirited participation from over 400 runners, including students, entrepreneurs, athletes, and citizens from Jammu, Punjab, Bengaluru, and even the USA—reflecting its national and international appeal.
A statement issued here said that the Minister for Youth Services, Sports and IT, Satish Sharma, along with Maj Gen Mukesh Bhanwala, GOC 26 INF DIV, flagged off the run as Chief Guests. Other dignitaries present included Prof. Omesh Rai, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, Anuradha Gupta, Director General, Youth Services J&K, Vikas Gupta Director Tourism Jammu, Ajaz Qaiser Joint Director Tourism, Kiran Radurappas CEO, Posspole Bengaluru, Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Sports and Physical Education, Jammu Universityand Debmalya Banerjee, Regional Director, ICC Northern Region.
Chairman Rahul Sahai warmly welcomed the guests, participants and media, stating:“This run is not just about fitness—it’s a stride towards making Jammu a nucleus of innovation, start-ups, and entrepreneurship.”Addressing the gathering, Minister Satish Sharma praised the Chamber’s initiative: “It is heartening to see Jammu running for peace and innovation under the guidance of ICC—a century-old national institution. The government stands fully committed to supporting innovation and youth entrepreneurship in J&K.”
Vice Chancellor Prof. Omesh Rai commended ICC’s leadership and the choice of Jammu University as the venue, affirming that the theme of peace and innovation aligns with the university’s values.Despite the summer heat, all dignitaries applauded the resilience and enthusiasm of the runners who completed the challenging courses.
