In its efforts to eradicate the menace of drug smuggling in the state, Kashmir’s Baramulla Police have registered 213 cases, arrested 343 drug peddlers, till August this year, according to an official release.
Moreover, the Baramulla Police have arrested a total of 289 people under the NDPS Act and 54 under the PIT NDPS/PSA Act, according to a press release by the Baramulla Police.
The properties of drug smugglers frozen till August 2023 by the Baramulla Police are worth Rs 2.1 crore, which includes 3 houses, 3 vehicles, and cash worth Rs 1.2 crore.Besides, the police have also seized contraband worth more than Rs 12 crore.
Earlier on August 25, as many as 54 notorious drug peddlers were booked under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (PIT-NDPS Act) and also under the Public Safety Act (PSA) in the Baramulla district, said officials. (ANI)
