Awantipora, July 7: The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) and the Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM), Srinagar, recently held their third joint research meeting at the RRIUM campus, reaffirming their commitment to integrating Unani medical traditions with contemporary scientific approaches.A statement issued here said that the meeting was jointly chaired by Dr Arsheed A. Ganaie, Coordinator, Centre for AYUSH Science, IUST, and Dr Irfat Ara, Officer Incharge, RRIUM. It focused on reviewing ongoing collaborations and charting a future roadmap for impactful interdisciplinary research. Discussions centred around three key priorities–the modernisation of Unani formulations through advanced scientific evaluation techniques, emphasised by Prof Ayub Qadri. The development of joint research proposals leveraging the complementary expertise of both institutions, highlighted by Dr Irfat Ara and the need for enhanced support from the Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM) to facilitate clinical trials. Participants unanimously agreed on renewing the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to deepen academic and research cooperation. Emphasis was laid on bridging traditional Unani knowledge with evidence-based scientific methodologies. The IUST delegation included Dr Rais Ahmad, Dr Manzoor Ahmad Rather, Dr Aamir Hussain Dar, Dr Assif Assad, Dr Dharam Chand, Dr Jan Mohammad, and Dr Nisar Ahmad Dangroo.
