Reasi, Sept 05: An Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT), deputed by the Government of India and led by Col. Kirti Pratap Singh, Joint Secretary, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), on Friday visited Reasi district to assess damages caused by recent heavy rains and natural calamities.
As per a statement issued here, the team inspected several affected sites, including the Domel–Katra highway, the landslide-hit Ballani Bridge, and the slide-prone stretch near Shani Mandir, Katra. They interacted with the local administration and farmers to evaluate losses to infrastructure, housing, agriculture, and livelihoods. A member of the team, accompanied by the Chief Agriculture Officer, visited farmlands to assess crop damage and hear farmers’ concerns.
The IMCT was accompanied by ADDC Sukhdev Singh Samyal, ADC Rakesh Kumar, SDM Katra Piyush Dhotra, and senior officers from multiple line departments, who provided detailed briefings on the scale of losses. Later, a comprehensive review meeting was held at the Spiritual Growth Centre, Katra, where Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Nidhi Malik, gave a presentation on loss of lives, livestock, agricultural land, housing, and community assets. She also apprised the team of ongoing restoration efforts, relief measures, and rehabilitation works. The Deputy Commissioner said relief camps have been established in Mahore, Jameslan, and Sarh, where the administration is providing food, shelter, medical aid, and essential supplies to the affected families.
