Srinagar, Sep 21: Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-K Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai on Thursday inaugurated a 15-day certificate course – Fertilizer Input and Prospective Dealers on Integrated Nutrient Management – for fertilizer dealers here at the university’s Directorate of Extension.
Speaking on the occasion, the VC apprised the audience how with various interventions by SKUAST-K, the yield of almost all the crops has witnessed a considerable increase. He updated the trainees on the importance of different aspects of integrated nutrient management for different crops.
Prof. Ganai advised the participants to promote organic farming in the region and stressed safeguarding health issues and the environment. He advised the trainees after completion of the course, all participants should start their own business and emphasized to the Faculty of Directorate of Extension that in their particular lectures focus should be given to Integrated Nutrient Management.
The function was co-chaired by Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi, Director Extension/SAMETI, SKUAST-K. Director Extension, Prof. Makhdoomi deliberated on the need and importance of the Certificate Course and appreciated the interest shown by the participants from far-flung areas of the valley and said that the participants will be provided with the best learning platform during the different sessions of the course through able and experience of the scientific staff of SKUAST-K with ample hands-on training.
“The participants should practically apply in the fields what they will learn from the course,” he said.
The overview of the programme was presented by Dr. Farahnaz Rasool, Deputy Director (Trgs), Directorate of Extension. The inaugural session of the programme was attended by Scientists of the Directorate of Extension and 90 participants of the certificate course of 03 batches from different districts of the valley. The programme was concluded with a vote of thanks.
