Srinagar, Aug 14: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Minority Front, under the leadership of National President Jamal Siddiqui, paid homage to one of India’s bravest soldiers, Shaheed Veer Abdul Hamid on the eve of Independence Day.
The event took place at the Abdul Hamid Memorial in Tarn Taran, Punjab, where Siddiqui and other Front members honoured the legacy of the 1965 war hero by offering flowers and hoisting the tricolour.
Addressing the gathering, Jamal Siddiqui highlighted the valour and supreme sacrifice of Abdul Hamid, who played a pivotal role in the 1965 Indo-Pak war by destroying eight Patton tanks with his gun, earning him the prestigious Param Vir Chakra.
“We salute his martyrdom,” Siddiqui said, emphasizing the significance of remembering the contributions of freedom fighters and war heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country’s independence.
Siddiqui spoke about the ongoing ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, initiated under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP National President JP Nadda. This campaign, running from August 9 to 15, involves BJP Minority Front members reaching out to the minority community across the country, and encouraging them to hoist the national flag on their homes, establishments, offices, dargahs, and madrasas to celebrate Independence Day. The initiative is aimed at fostering a sense of unity and patriotism among all communities.
The tribute event was attended by the Front’s National Executive Member Dr Aslam, Thomas Masih, and several other officials and workers, who joined in paying respects to the heroism of Abdul Hamid and reflecting on the sacrifices of all freedom fighters who made the nation’s independence possible.
