Srinagar, May 21: The Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists (IADVL) has set a new Guinness World Record for the highest number of pledges for dermatological disease awareness within 24 hours. The record-setting campaign took place on May 5 and 6, 2024, garnering 9,405 pledges from certified dermatologists across the country. The official declaration was made on Saturday, May 18, at the IADVL headquarters in Delhi.
Dr Manjunath Shenoy, President; Dr BK Katakam, Secretary General; Dr Rajeev Sharma, President-Elect; Dr Vijay Zawar, Immediate Past President; Dr Kavitha SB, Treasurer; and Dr Vikas Shankar, Joint Secretary, were present on the occasion. Dr Shenoy expressed his excitement about this historic accomplishment.
IADVL J&K branch President Dr Yasmeen Jabeen Bhat and Secretary Dr Shagufta Rather expressed their gratitude to all the IADVL members of Jammu & Kashmir for their participation in the pledge submission.
“This world record is a testament to the dedication of the IADVL to advancing dermatology care, fostering public awareness, bringing positive change in the lives of those afflicted by dermatological diseases, and curbing the menace of quackery,” they said.
It is noteworthy that the J&K branch ranked second, with 98% of its members participating in the pledge submission.
