Huzaif Nazar, a native of Kashmir, completed his schooling at DPS Srinagar. His experience of live music left an indelible mark on him when he first witnessed the harmony of live instruments. It was a moment of pure fantasy, as the music transported him into a realm of joy and vibrancy. “The atmosphere was charged with a different energy, and I found myself immersed in a blissful state of emotions”, said Huzaif.
Sharing the experiences of his journey he said, “My initiation into the world of music took a significant turn when my grandmother gifted me my first guitar. This thoughtful gift became a trigger, propelling me into the field of music. The strings of the guitar resonated with my soul, and I soon mastered not only the Guitar but also the intricate tones of the Rabab.”
Reflecting on his journey, Huzaif fondly recalls that his maternal uncle, Zubair Bastal, has been a significant source of inspiration, playing a central role in influencing and supporting his artistic journey.”
Huzaif has collaborated with renowned Kashmiri artists such as Noor Mohammad for the national music label Zee Music, as well as with artists like Ahmer, SOS, Tufail, Arslan, and more. He holds a deep appreciation for independent Kashmiri artists like Ahmer, Arslan Nizami, Junaid Bin Rashid, Faheem Abdullah, Inam Khan, Tafazul, Zeeshan Nabi, Raag, and Ahmed Parvez. He attributes his inspiration for writing his own songs to Roshan Illahi, acknowledging that without him, his musical journey would not have been possible. He also credits his fellow associates and music producers, including Hyder Dar and Arif Mir.
“Hyder Dar and I successfully launched our initial collaborative track, and subsequently unveiled our project, “Sifat.” This was succeeded by the release of a single, “Kahan Hai Tu,” featuring vocals by Rashmeet Kaur. This song became the first Kashmiri song to receive recognition at the National Indian Music Awards. Our recent endeavor, “Behoshi”, showcases a collaboration with Ahmer, Tufail, Syed Arslan, and is produced by the talented 30KEY, known for his work with artists like Talwiinder and others”, Huzaif said.
Huzaif embraces meditation and connects with nature to cultivate a peaceful mindset. He produces music characterized by reliability and emphasis on fostering a sense of peace.
“The way I see myself is like having two different sides. One side of me is all into music –, on the flip side, there’s a part of me that doesn’t really care much about music. I keep that person alive so that I can live a regular life”, he said.
Huzaif shares a guiding philosophy with his listeners, quoting, “The purpose of life is a life with purpose; I would rather die for a reason than love a life that is worthless.” This mantra, he attests, has been his source of strength during low moments, inspiring both himself and those who seek solace in his music.
‘Laadla’ stands out as his favourite composition due to its exploration of the maternal aspect, showcasing qualities found in nature.
Huzaif emphasizes that the music industry is a canvas for all experiences, whether they bring victory or challenge. His fervent advice to the youngsters is to be fully engaged, remain authentic, cultivate your passion, and stand steadfastly loyal to the art, avoiding any actions that could betray its fundamental essence. This, he believes, is the path to a fulfilling and successful musical journey.
