Budgam, Feb 23: A case of Hepatitis A has been reported at Huklatri Village in Beerwah tehsil of central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
An official from the Surveillance Unit IDSP CMO office Budgam, Gurmeet Singh told the Rising Kashmir that on February 20, they received a message from Block Medical Officer Beerwah to visit the Huklatri village for an investigation and the door-to-door surveillance for the occurrence of jaundice cases in the village.
“On Feb 21, the District IDSP team Budgam along with Block Beerwah Rapid Response Team again visited the village and conducted tests of five blood samples that were taken for surveillance of Hepatitis A and E,” Singh said.
He said that after investigation, one case of hepatitis A was found positive, and four other cases were found negative, ranging in age from 3 to 27 years.
The four water samples have also been taken and sent to the DPHL Lab for further investigation, he said, adding the results of the water samples were awaited.
The advisories were also issued to the locals, informing them how they can prevent the water-borne diseases in the village.
“The people have been asked to use safe drinking and boiled water, and remain isolated for precautionary measures,” Singh said.
