“Heavy Rains Expected in Jammu Parts, Flash Floods Possible”: MeT

Srinagar, August 26: The Meteorological Centre today issued a weather advisory for Jammu and Kashmir, warning of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in several districts.

The forecast predicts light to moderate rain/thunderstorms at many places, with heavy to very heavy rain expected in Jammu, Reasi, Udhampur, Kishtwar, and Rajouri. Doda, Kathua, and Samba are likely to experience extremely heavy rain.

The weather advisory also cautions about the risk of cloud bursts, flash floods, landslides, and mudslides at vulnerable locations. Residents are advised to stay away from water bodies, river embankments, and loose structures, as water logging and flooding are expected in low-lying areas of Jammu Division.

From 27-29 August, Met Predicted Brief spell of Rain/thunder at few places and from 30 Aug -1 September MeT forecast Moderate to heavy Rain/thundershower in Jammu Division.

From 02-05 September, MeT forecast Brief spell of Rain/thundershower at few places”.

In light of the forecast, the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway has been affected.
