Health talk on ‘Endocrine Disruptors’ hosted at IUST

Awantipora, Sept 26 – The Medical Centre at IUST hosted a Health Talk on Endocrine Disruptions in collaboration with Paras Hospital Srinagar. The event was aimed to inform the students about endocrine disruptors and promote health awareness.
Dr. Mahroosa, endocrinologist and senior consultant at Paras Hospital, Srinagar was the main speaker of the program. She spoke about the endocrine disrupting chemicals and their potential impact on human health. She encouraged students to adopt healthy lifestyle patterns as a means to mitigate exposure to these disruptors.
The program was presided over by Prof. Mohammad Ayoub Qadri, Dean School of Health Sciences, who commended the pivotal role played by the health centre in disseminating crucial health awareness among students at IUST emphasizing the importance of informed and healthy choices.
Dr. Zahida Rasool, Medical Officer Health Centre of IUST, affirmed the centre’s commitment to organizing similar events in the future.

Eminent physicist Prof Chattopadhyay delivers lecture
Department of Physics at the Islamic University of Science and Technology, Kashmir (IUST) organized a lecture by eminent physicist Prof. Sukalyan Chattopadhyay from Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, Kolkata. The lecture, titled “Shapes and Symmetries in Atomic Nuclei,” delved into the evolution and enhancements of the Nilsson model of atomic nuclei, specifically focusing on how it successfully accommodates newer experimental discoveries in nuclear high spin spectroscopy.
The lecture was presided over by Prof Manzoor Ahmad Malik, Dean Academic Affairs and was attended by Prof. Shaikh Javid Ahmad, faculty from the Department of Physics and scholars and students. The programme was coordinated by Dr Niyaz Ahmad Rather, Head Department of Physics, IUST.
The lecture was aimed to expose the scholars and students to the complexities within atomic nuclei and their symmetrical properties and encourage them towards cutting-edge research and intellectual exploration in the field of nuclear structure physics.
