Samba, June 13: Apni Party Provincial President, Jammu and former minister, S. Manjit Singh has urged the government to deal with the terror attacks with an iron fist. He asked the people of the Jammu region not to panic.
“These attacks in Reasi, Kathua and Doda districts in the last three days have spread widespread panic among the people,” Singh said in a statement. He was speaking at a meeting at Rampur village in Vijaypur Block in Samba District that was organised by Block President of the Party, Ex-Capt. Mohan Lal Sharma, and Ex-Naib Sarpanch, Ram Murti Sharma.
In this meeting, the former minister expressed his concern over the security-related issues raised by the people in the meeting regarding recent terror attacks and worries among the people along the International Border and its adjoining villages in Samba, Jammu and Kathua districts.
He said, “Although the people have extended their full support to the security forces, and J&K Police, they are worried about their security in the wake of movement of suspected persons as reported in various areas. The people are avoiding going out during the evening or night hours shows how the people are concerned.”
In this situation, he appealed to the government to deal with terror attacks with iron hands and trace out the suspected persons with the involvement of all the security agencies in a coordinated manner.
The Apni Party leader said the important role of former Panchayat members and Namberdars cannot be ruled out in maintaining peace and finding the suspected persons. Hence, their services must be utilised in monitoring the situation in border villages, he added.
“He also emphasized the role of youth in keeping vigilance in their respective villages, and towns,” he suggested, adding that the people should not panic, but remain vigilant.
Singh asked the people to maintain calmness, and communal harmony at any cost, especially when the Jammu plains are passing through a tough phase of fresh terror threats. The enemies want to destabilise the situation in Jammu and Kashmir by fueling the peaceful situation and igniting communal tempers, he said.
“We shall fight the elements within the society, who want to take charge of the situation and ensure the situation remains peaceful and help the authorities in maintaining the situation harmonious,” he added. He asked the party cadre to coordinate with the village heads and help the people during difficult times.
