Hakeem welcomes HC quashing PSA on Dawoodi, Veeri

Srinagar, Sep 08: Chairman J&K Peoples Democratic Front (JKPDF) and former minister Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen has welcomed the High Court of J&K and Ladakh’s order quashing PSA detention of clerics of Kashmir, Moulana Abdul Rashid Dawoodi and Moulana Mushtaq Ahmed Veeri.
In a statement issued here, Hakeem said, “Finally, justice has prevailed.” He said the Constitution of India has given the right of religion and freedom of expression to its citizens which cannot be violated.
“Since both clerics have large following in the Kashmir Valley and were apolitical, their detention was against the collective conscience of the law-abiding and peace-loving people,” he said, adding, “By ordering their release, the High Court has upheld high traditions of justice and rule of law.”
