Srinagar, June 19: Chairman of the Jammu & Kashmir Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) and former minister, Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen on Wednesday called upon the district administration of Budgam to make adequate arrangements for the forthcoming annual Urs of Syed Soleh (RA) at Khansahib.
In a statement issued here, Hakeem urged field functionaries of various concerned government departments to put in place all required facilities for the convenience of the thousands of devotees who throng to the shrine to pay obeisance to the great Sufi saint Hazrat Syed Soleh (RA) during the annual Urs, celebrated from June 21 to 23 with much religious fervour and faith.
The PDF chief asked the officers to make foolproof arrangements for the smooth conduct of the annual Urs of the revered saint Syed Soleh (RA). He directed the concerned officers to ensure the availability of essential commodities for the devotees and uninterrupted drinking water and power supply in Khansahib and adjacent areas.
Yaseen also urged for adequate transport arrangements for ferrying devotees to the mausoleum of Syed Soleh (RA) at Khan Sahib from various areas. “A sufficient number of passenger vehicles should be pressed into service on various routes to ensure that devotees do not face any inconvenience,” he said.
The former minister called for robust cleanliness and sanitation arrangements, adding that garbage collection and disposal on a scientific basis should be ensured daily in and around the shrine of Syed Soleh (RA). He asked the municipal authorities to reactivate men and machinery at the ground level.
Hakeem requested the health department to set up special first aid camps on the way to Khansahib to meet any exigency. He urged the administration to provide an additional quota of rice, sugar, LPG, and kerosene to the consumers of the Khansahib area on the occasion of the annual Urs to meet their requirements.
“The saint Syed Soleh (RA) is revered with very high esteem and faith by the people from all over the state,” Hakeem Yaseen said while praying that the auspicious occasion may prove to be a harbinger of peace, prosperity, and tranquillity.
