Srinagar, July 20: In the aftermath of recent terror attacks, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has directed security agencies to strengthen the security grid to ensure zero cross-border infiltration in the region.
Presiding over a high-level security review meeting at Raj Bhawan, Jammu, LG Sinha emphasized the need for coordinated counter-terrorism operations.
“We must launch meticulous and well-planned counter-terrorism operations with greater synergy between all the agencies to wipe out terrorists and those aiding and abetting them,” Sinha asserted.
The meeting was attended by Chief of the Army Staff, General UpendraDwivedi; DG BSF NitinAgrawal; DG CRPF; DGP J&K; Heads of Intelligence Agencies, and other senior officials from the army, CAPFs, and J&K Police.
Meanwhile, Army Chief General UpendraDwivedi arrived in Jammu on Saturday to assess the security situation amid increased terror activities. During his visit, he met with LG Manoj Sinha to discuss current security dynamics and assured aa synergetic approach by Armed Forces and Security agencies to tackle the present situation and maintain peace and stability in the region.
Later, Army Commander Dwivedi also chaired a high level ‘Joint Security Review Meeting’ at PCR Jammu focusing on thwarting the malevolent design of terrorists and anti-national elements in the region.
During the meeting, the Army Commander directed security forces to maintain alertness along borders and intensify terror operations in the region. General Dwivedi reviewed the security situation and was briefed by formation commanders on measures being taken to strengthen the area’s security.
It was attended by all stakeholders from Security Forces and intelligence Agencies, operating in UT of J&K.
PRO Defence Jammu, Lt Col SuneelBartwal said that the Army Commander landed in Jammu around 2:30 pm and returned around 6 pm.
This was General Dwivedi’s second visit to Jammu and Kashmir this month. Earlier, on July 3, he visited the Poonch-Rajouri sector to review the security situation along the Line of Control (LoC). His visit follows the tragic loss of four Indian Army soldiers, including Captain BrijeshThapa, during an encounter in Doda district on July 16.
General Dwivedi, who took over as Chief of the Indian Army on June 30, has shown a strong commitment to combating terrorism in the region. During his visit, the chief of army staff also interacted with some ex-servicemen at 93 Infantry Brigade, and reviewed the security measures in place for the AmarnathYatra.
On July 16, the Army spokesman reiterated the Northern Command’s dedication to eradicating terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting ongoing joint operations with the J&K Police targeting foreign terrorists infiltrating from across the border.

These operations target terrorists moving through the upper reaches of the Udhampur, Doda, and Kishtwar districts in the Jammu region, before they advance into Kashmir.
