Shopian, Jan 28:Acting tough on land grabbers, the  District Administration Shopian today retrieved about 15 kanals of land illegally occupied by former Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu during the ongoing eviction drive in south Kashmir’s Shopian district. 
Earlier, the Shopian District administration in a tweet said, “Among the 100s of kanals of illegally occupied land freed, Shopian administration retrieved 15 Kanals of illegally occupied high value orchard land from former Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu (15 Kanals). Govt’s zero-tolerance policy ensures land is used for public benefit.”
The revenue authorities  retrieved 15 kanals of encroached land from former finance minister, his family members and three kanals of land from a kin of the former Member Legislative Council (MLC) in Shopian.
Meanwhile, the  District Administration Shopian had retrieved around 406 kanals of state and kahcharie land during anti-encroachment drives carried out across the district.
In tehsil Shopian, 40 shops built on State land were also sealed today by Executive Magistrate (Tehsildar) Shopian.
Shakil Ahmad, Tehsildar Keegam told Rising Kashmir that a team of revenue officials during an anti encroachment drive retrieved land measuring 15 Kanals of state land under survey number 336, 335 and 334. 
He said that 35 kanals of Khacharie land under survey number 351 at Pirpora were also retrieved.  
“The land retrieved was previously encroached by locals, which include  former minister for finance Haseeb Drabu and his family members,” he said.
Mohd Tahir, Tehsildar Chitragam said that during the ongoing anti encroachment drive, three kanals of encroached land was retrieved in Chitragam village under survey number 704. 
“The land retrieved during the drive was encroached by Mohd Ashraf Ganie, a resident of Chitragam, who is a brother of former MLC.”
The revenue department in Kashmir has been on its toes from the past month and is recovering hundreds of kanals of land every day. 
In the ongoing process to retrieve the state and Khairachi land, 406 kanals of land were recovered on Saturday in the district, an official said. 
The officials said that apart from retrieving encroached land in the district, 40 shops were also sealed in the main town Shopian. 
“40 shops built on State land, under survey number 534 were sealed and handed over to Municipal council Shopian on spot,” Tehsildar Shopian said. 
Giving a breakup of land retrieval as per tehsil, a statement reads, in Tehsil Shopian; 40 shops were sealed and 102 kanals were retrieved while as in Tehsil Zainapora, 40 Kanals 12 Marlas and in Tehsil Chitragam, 3 Kanals were retrieved. 
“In Tehsil Barbug, 149 kanal 10 Marlas were retrieved while as in Tehsil Hermain, 45 Kanal, in Tehsil Keegam, 50 Kanal and in Tehsil Keller, 16 Kanal were retrieved.”

KATHUA: In continuation with its anti-encroachment drive, District Administration, Kathua today retrieved more than 35-kanal land from encroachers during an anti-encroachment drive in Basohli.
 During the drive, a total of 35 Kanal 06 marlas land was retrieved from illegal encroachment including 03 Kanal, 14 Marlas from an Ex MoS in Plahi, 09 kanal 15 Marla in Plakh from a prominent politician, 6 Kanal 8 Marlas in Pretha from the son of a Retired Government servant besides 15 Kanal  9 Marlas in Plahi from other illegal occupants.
The land includes high value land worth Rs 2. 41 crore in  Basohli sub division.    
 Pertinently, the Kathua Administration has activated men and machinery on mission mode to evict the illegal occupants and retrieve the state land.
