Srinagar, Feb 15: Post Graduate Department of Minimal Excess and General Surgery, Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar on Saturday received a national recognition at the foundation day of King George Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow.
The recognition was received by Prof (Dr) Iqbal Saleem Mir, Head Department of Minimal Excess and General Surgery GMC Srinagar who is also the Chairman (President) of J&K State Chapter of Association of Surgeons of India (JAKASI).
This recognition highlights the surgical procedure being performed at the Department of Minimal Access and General Surgery, GMC Srinagar. Prof. Iqbal delivered the oration at the 113th Foundation Day of King George’s Medical University (KGMU) at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Convention Centre, Lucknow.
He was felicitated by the Department of General Surgery, KGMU Lucknow, for performing a procedure for choledocholithiasis (stones in the common bile duct) at GMC Srinagar. This oration was in the name of Prof. Goel and Prof. Iqbal was honoured by Partha Sarthi Sensharma, Principal Secretary, Medical, Health and Family Welfare and Medical Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh and Prof. Soniya Nityanand, Vice-Chancellor of KGMU and Prof. Abhinav Arun Sonkar, Head Department of General Surgery KGMA.
