Hyderabad, Aug 28: Highlighting the need for globalisation of art and aesthetics, Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice-Chancellor, Maulana Azad National Urdu University, observed that art and aesthetics are dying and there is a need to sustain art through globalisation.
Presiding the Inaugural Session of the Three-day International Conference on “Voices of India and Beyond: Mobility, Sustainability, and Technology,” Prof. Hasan quoted the Persian poet, Saad Shirazi’s famous couplet “ If the musk you possess, be not real, do not tell!/If it is, it will make itself known by the smell,” and encouraged the youth to preserve the real fragrance by exploring the world of aesthetics through writing. Reiterating the message of the Conference, he emphasized the need to explore how communities can reclaim their identities and histories through languages.
Prof. K. Nagendra, Head, Department of English, MANUU, welcomed the audience. Prof. S Arulmozi, from Centre for Applied Linguistics and Translation Studies, UoH, introduced the theme of the Conference. Prof. Umarani Pappuswamy, Deputy Director, Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysuru; Prof. J. Prabhakar Rao, Dean, School of Humanities, UoH; Prof. Aziz Bano, Dean, School of Languages Linguistics and Indology, MANUU; Prof. Ishtiaque Ahmed, Registrar, MANUU also addressed the gathering.
The Conference is being organized jointly by the Department of English, MANUU; Centre for Language and Multicultural Communication, Woxsen University; and Centre for Applied Linguistics and Translational Studies, University of Hyderabad, in academic collaboration with Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysuru; Indian Council of Social Science Research; and Institute of Eminence, University of Hyderabad.
On the occasion, Prof. Hasan released four books: the Book of Abstracts, Prof. Syed Imtiaz Hasnain’s book “Monographs on Maulana Azad” and Dr. Aslam Kunnathil’s two books: “Breathless Beyond: A Rooh’s Diary” (translated) and “Comparative Studies: History, Methods, and Applications” (edited).
Dr. Anik Nandi, from Woxsen University proposed the vote of thanks.
