Ganderbal: Polling stations across Ganderbal district in central Kashmir were abuzz with activity as citizens turned out in large numbers to cast their votes, showcasing an inspiring display of civic engagement and democratic enthusiasm.
From busy towns to remote villages, voters stood patiently in long queues, eager to exercise their fundamental right.
Local voter Shabir Ahmad praised the voting facilities, highlighting their accessibility and comfort for all. He expressed gratitude to the District Electoral Officer (DEO) and the Election Commission of India (ECI) for ensuring a smooth and inclusive voting process.
Under ECI guidance, the District Administration meticulously arranged amenities at each polling station, ensuring a positive voting experience.
Elderly voters from Sarbal, the district’s farthest village, joyfully exercised their votes locally for the first time.
Despite challenges, a resilient 115-year-old from Shallabug and an individual with a leg fracture voted in the Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency.
As the day progressed, robust participation was evident: Ganderbal saw 46.81% turnout, Kangan ST marked an impressive 55.55%, with an overall 53% turnout by 6:00 pm.
Special Polling Stations (Green/Pink/PWD/Youth manned) exemplify ECI’s inclusive facilitation, introducing first-time initiatives for accessibility and engagement.
The Green Polling Station in Naranag and Ramwari Gund, set against lush mountains, is beautifully decorated, adding vibrancy. Advocate Malik Shagufta praised the arrangements at the Pink Polling Station in Duderhama.
Sarbal Sonamarg witnessed an incredible turnout, underscoring the importance of every voice in democracy. Voters expressed satisfaction over the first-time polling station, thanking the ECI and government.
The District Administration ensured facilities at every police station per ECI instructions. The District Control Room monitored the polling process district-wide, emphasizing the importance of teamwork for a smooth election.
