Jammu, Dec 29: Emphasising that the primary objective of school education is to ignite the intellectual capacity of children, the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said that the future of a nation is decided in the school campus. “The overall goal of our education system is to provide unique opportunities to every unique personality, allowing them to create something new and contribute to nation-building with their talents,” he remarked.
Addressing the Annual Day function of Jammu Sanskriti School, themed “Karmanya-The Power of Good Deeds,” held at the General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, Jammu University, the Lieutenant Governor congratulated the school management, teachers, and students on their Annual Day. He acknowledged the significant contributions of the many eminent educators who have helped establish the high reputation of Jammu Sanskriti School.
The Lieutenant Governor emphasized that the primary objective of school education is to ignite the intellectual capacity of children. “The future of a nation is decided in the school campus. The overall goal of our education system is to provide unique opportunities to every unique personality, allowing them to create something new and contribute to nation-building with their talents,” he remarked.
He further stressed the importance of creating an environment that fosters confidence in students and motivates them to continually learn new skills. In today’s era of rapid technological advancements, the Lieutenant Governor noted that “the only skill that will remain relevant in the future is the skill of lifelong learning.”
He highlighted that the primary and secondary education phase is one of positive change in a student’s life. “This is the time when the surrounding knowledge and influences shape the child’s mind and body. Whatever a child learns during this formative period stays with them for many years. It is during this time that children develop instincts for decision-making and a sense of distinguishing between right and wrong,” the Lieutenant Governor said .
On the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor announced seven resolutions for educational institutions across Jammu and Kashmir. These resolutions focus on integrating new technologies in education, balancing knowledge with values, and stimulating students’ intellectual capacities.
“The first resolution is to make digital learning interactive and encourage students to actively engage in the learning process. We must focus on one-to-one mentoring instead of merely delivering information, and offer students field experiences outside the classroom,” he said.
He also felicitated students who excelled in academics and other fields and released the latest edition of the school’s magazine.
Prominent attendees included Prof. Manoj Singh Gaur, Director of IIT Jammu; Sh. Harpreet Singh, Chairman of Jammu Sanskriti School; Ms. Rohini Aima, Principal of the school; as well as teachers, students, and parents. Senior officials, including Sh. Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, and Sh. Sachin Kumar Vaishya, Deputy Commissioner Jammu, were also present.
