Dr Owais told Rising Kashmir that he has directed officers to devise a proper plan for establishment of fruit mandi and land will be identified at a convenient place within the shortest possible time.
He said that the government is already taking concrete steps for safeguarding the horticulture sector and district administration Bandipora will also leave no stone unturned for its upliftment.
A fruit grower from Bandipora, Wajahat Ahmad told Rising Kashmir that they are facing incurring losses and are paying extra transportation charges due to non-availability of fruit mandi in Bandipora.
He said that they have to sell their produce either at Sopore or at Srinagar Mandi without having hands on information about current market rates.
“We are highly thankful to DC Bandipora, Dr Owais who gave assurances to us that the issue of transportation shall be taken up with concern in order to redress the problem”, he said.
