Srinagar, Aug 15: The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar on Friday marked the 79th Independence Day of the nation with great enthusiasm, patriotic fervor, and a deep sense of responsibility towards nation-building.According to a statement issued here, In-Charge Director Prof. (HAG) Roohi Naaz presided over the ceremony and hoisted the Tricolour at the campus, reaffirming the institute’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and service to the country.The mega celebrations were attended by Registrar Prof. Atikur Rehman, Deans, Heads of Departments and Centres, faculty members, SHO Police Station Nigeen Hazratbal, Showkat Hussain, administrative officers, security wing personnel, scholars, and students.This year’s celebrations featured multiple contingents, including the Institute’s Security Wing led by Manzoor Ahmad with Mohammad Ismayil as Parade Commander, the NCC contingent led by 3rd Year Cadet SUO Shruti Prakash, and a special contingent comprising children of faculty members. The Director took the salute from the Parade Commander and inspected all parade contingents as they marched past.This year, Security In-Charge Mr. Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat served as the Nodal Officer for the programme, while Dr. Janani L. conducted the proceedings with patriotic zeal.Addressing the gathering on behalf of Director Prof. Binod Kumar Kanaujia, In-Charge Director Prof. (HAG) Roohi Naaz paid heartfelt tribute to the nation’s great leaders and freedom fighters. “Today, as the Tricolour soared high and our parade marched forward with pride, we were reminded that freedom is not merely a legacy to cherish but a responsibility to uphold. We salute every citizen who contributed to our independence and those who work tirelessly to advance the nation’s progress,” she said.“Our journey of nation-building is far from over. As engineers, scientists, educators, and students, we hold the keys to shaping a sustainable, equitable, and technologically empowered India,” she said.
