In a significant effort to combat the menace of food fraud, the Food Safety team Anantnag today conducted a major drive targeting various Food Business Operators (FBOs) in Anantnag town.

The operation resulted in the seizure of approximately 30 kgs of suspected chicken Seekh Kabab, where the information provided on the label was found to be false and misleading. The license number mentioned on the label contradicted the information regarding the firm.

During the raid, a suspected vehicle with registration number JK01V-3486, identified as a TATA Mobile, was inspected. The vehicle was found transporting different perishable food items, including 80 kgs of dressed chicken, 120 kgs of dressed fish, and 100 pieces of semi-cooked Mamoos. These items were stored under ambient conditions without proper frozen storage, and all the deteriorated food items were promptly destroyed on the spot in the presence of the vehicle’s driver.
