Five persons arrested for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Kulgam

Continuing its drive against persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, Police on Tuesday arrested five persons and seized five vehicles in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

A Police spokesperson said, “The Police party led by DySP HQRS Kulgam along with SHO Police station Kulgam under the close supervision of SSP Kulgam Shri Sahil Sarangal-IPS during patrolling at Matalhama, Kulgam arrested five persons (Drivers).

The arrested persons have been identified as Shabir Ahmad Sheikh S/O Ghulam Mohiuddin Sheikh R/O Sumarbugh, Lasian, Sameer Ahmad Dar S/O Ghulam Muhammad Dar R/O Zanipora, Pampora, Fayaz Ahmad Reshi S/O Nazir Ahmad Reshi R/O Lethpora, Pulwama, Bilal Ahmad Dar S/O Ghulam Nabi Dar R/O Lethpora, Pulwama and Javid Ahmad Dar S/O Mohd Sultan Dar R/O Lethpora, Pulwama and Police have seized five vehicles (Dumpers) involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.

In this regard, a case FIR No. 04/2024 under relevant sections of law stands registered at police station Kulgam and investigation has been taken up.
