Aishmuqam, April 22: On the auspicious occasion of Zain Shah Urs, a new initiative was launched by bringing Sufi scholars, practitioners and activists from different parts of the country. Educators, civil society members, administration and students attended this function in the Town Hall of Aishmuqam.
The speakers shared their views on the value of leading the Sufi way of life. Shahnawaz A Shah expressed that in a world that is full of conflict and chaos, the path of love shown by the Sufi saints, hermits of Kashmir is the only way to harmonise relationships.
He said that it is only in India that Sufism has survived whereas elsewhere in the world it has died down or weakened with time.
Ashima Kaul, a devotee and regular visitor to Aishmuqam recalled the difficult times Sufism has undergone in Kashmir.
She congratulated the Sufi movement group in Aishmuqam for taking the lead in reviving an age-old environment of co-existence. ” We are first Kashmiris then Hindu and Muslim, an ideology that is possible in the revival of Sufism”, she said. She added , ” As a Kashmiri Pandit , I feel accepted and included in the accommodation that Sufism offers to different faiths.”Ashima Kaul, internationally acclaimed award winning women peacemaker and a devotee of Hazrat Sakhi Zain Shah is a regular visitor at Aishmuqam shrine.
The event organised by Greater Aishmuqam Sufi society which was graced by Moulana Zahoor ,Moulvi Ashraf GURI ,Moulvi Riyaz ,Mohd Yaqoob Gadiyal ,Haji GH Mohd Dar, Mushtaq Pahalgami ,Ashima Koul while as Tasaduq served as the stage secretary.
Programme started with Tilawat and Naat-e-sharief. Sufi Manqabat was recited by renowned Sufi singer Irshad Ahmad.
