SRINAGAR, MAY 22: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday chaired a high-level meeting to review the functioning of the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB), emphasising the need for removing procedural bottlenecks and ensuring a transparent, efficient, and time-bound recruitment process.
The meeting was attended by Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Dheeraj Gupta, Principal Secretary Finance, Commissioner Secretary General Administration Department, Commissioner Secretary Cooperatives, Secretary Law, Chairperson JKSSB Indu Kanwal Chib, and other senior officers.
Presenting a detailed overview, Chairperson JKSSB Indu Kanwal Chib briefed the Chief Minister on the recruitment activities undertaken by the Board since 2019. She shared department-wise data on posts that have been advertised, are currently under examination, and those in the final stages of selection.
She also flagged key challenges, including delays in receipt of indents from departments and the need for revisions in recruitment rules to align with current job requirements. Several posts remain unadvertised due to these procedural issues.
To enhance fairness and transparency, the Board has proposed that all future recruitment examinations be held under CCTV surveillance.
The meeting also reviewed the status of Class IV recruitment, with concerns raised over delays in the selection process.
Taking serious note, the Chief Minister directed the JKSSB to expedite recruitment timelines and resolve all pending procedural hurdles. He also called for improvements in the Board’s infrastructure and strengthening of its legal and administrative framework.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to transparent and accountable governance, Omar said, “Every effort will be made to ensure a fair and timely recruitment process. It is our responsibility to enhance public trust, improve institutional efficiency, and fill vacant posts to provide employment opportunities to the qualified youth of Jammu and Kashmir.”
