Farooq, Omar greet people on Urs Hazrat Noor Shah Baghdadi (RA)

Srinagar, Feb 08: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah and Vice President and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday greeted people on the annual Urs observance of Hazrat Noor Shah Baghdadi (RA) being observed at his revered Shrine in Qazigund.
In his message, Dr Abdullah emphasised the rich spiritual heritage of Kashmir, often referred to as an alcove of Sufis and saints. “The shrines associated with these revered figures transcend religious boundaries and hold a special place in the hearts of the people. Hazrat Baghdadi (RA) is just one of the many Sufis and saints who have left an indelible mark on the social and cultural fabric of Kashmir. The people of Kashmir owe a debt of gratitude to these spiritual luminaries, including Hazrat Baghdadi (RA),” he said.
He added, “As we observe the urs, I extend my heartfelt greetings to the people of Kashmir, particularly those in Qazigund and Kulgam. It is my fervent hope that they will embrace the teachings of these great men and that the new generation will find inspiration in their lives. On this day, I pray for peace and prosperity to reign in Kashmir, guided by the wisdom and teachings of these revered Sufis.”
In his greetings, CM Omar Abdullah highlighted how the cultural fabric of Kashmiris is intertwined with the teachings of revered Sufi saints. “The message of peace, piety, and penance preached by Sufis like Hazrat Baghdadi (RA) resonates throughout the region. These Sufi saints advocated for the unity of humankind, embodying the core values and teachings of Islam. As we observe the auspicious Urs of these revered Sufis, I extend my heartfelt greetings to all. I hope that those who have the opportunity to visit the shrine during this sacred occasion will experience spiritual bliss and contentment,” he said.
Meanwhile, General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani, Additional General Secretary Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, MPs Mian Altaf Ahmad, Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi and other senior leaders Sakina Itoo, Peerzada Faroz, Imran Nabi Dar also greeted people on the Urs observance and prayed for well being of the entire humankind.
Meanwhile, the Chief Spokesperson and MLA of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, representing Zadibal, Tanvir Sadiq has called upon the district administration of Srinagar to ensure the annual Urs observance of Hazrat Sheikh Ul Mashayekh Faqeer Ahmad Machaama Sirhindi Sahib Abdaal (RA) at his revered Shrine in Alamgari Bazar is conducted smoothly.
MLA Zadibal has urged the administration to step up and collaborate with the shrine administration to make necessary arrangements for devotees. He has also requested the district administration to issue directives to the SMC, PDD, and PWD to mobilise their resources and manpower on the ground to handle the influx of devotees.
