Kupwara, Jul 24: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan, on Thursday convened a meeting of concerned officers here to review the progress of the ongoing construction work of National Highway-701 (NH-701).
The meeting was briefed about the current status of various stretches of the road, including bottlenecks, land acquisition issues, and progress on critical components such as bridges, retaining walls, and drainage systems.
The DC emphasised the importance of NH-701 as a strategic and developmental lifeline for the district, connecting remote areas and facilitating economic activities. She instructed the executing agencies to expedite the pace of work, maintain quality standards, and ensure minimal inconvenience to the public.
All the Executive Engineers were directed to nominate their Nodal Officers to monitor the shifting of utilities for the smooth execution of the National Highway project. OC BEACON was also directed to designate a Nodal Officer who shall coordinate with the Executive Engineers and Tehsildars for the shifting of the utilities falling along the NH-701.
Tehsildars were directed to submit the remaining title certificates so that the land compensation is disbursed well in time to the land owners. CHO Kupwara shall submit the assessment of trees coming under the alignment curve portion at Braripora within two days.
Stressing inter-departmental coordination, DC directed concerned officers to resolve pending issues on priority, particularly those related to land compensation and utility shifting. Regular monitoring and field inspections were also recommended to keep progress on track.
