Jammu, Dec 11: “The achievements of our veterans and brave veer naris remain at the core of our ethos in the Indian Army,” said Lt Gen Nav K Khanduri, Army Commander Western Command, on Sunday.
The Army Commander made these remarks while interacting with veer naris and veterans at a mega ex-servicemen rally organised by Rising Star Corps at Yol Cantt, Himachal Pradesh.
During the rally, the requirements and grievances of more than 1000 veterans and 55 veer naris from Kangra district were addressed. They were also felicitated and awarded.
While recognising their sacrifice, the Army Commander expressed his deep gratitude towards them. He also felicitated the brave awardees. The ESM and the Veer Naris were also informed about the recent initiatives by the Government of India and the Indian Army toward their welfare. Several aspects of women empowerment including commissioning were shared with the ESM and veer naris.
Apart from the redressal of grievances, a medical camp and welfare-related facilities were also organised at the venue where easy access to the ESM was ensured. Information about the key government schemes was provided to the veterans and veer naris by the concerned appointments of the Directorate of Indian Army Veterans, Army Welfare Placement Organisation and Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme.
The event culminated with a vibrant cultural programme including Ghatka, Kalaripayattu and a scintillating performance by the combined pipe band of Rising Star Corps. The performance by talented soldiers of the Rising Star Corps left the audience awestruck in the picturesque background of the Dhauladhar ranges. The event is part of intensive efforts by the Western Command to strengthen our bond with the veterans’ fraternity and maintain a close connection.
