Srinagar, Dec 13:
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone, V. K. Birdi, in a security review meeting held in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal District, called upon officers to escalate anti-terrorist operations and take stringent action against individuals or organisations supporting anti-national activities.
Presiding over the meeting, IGP Birdi received a comprehensive briefing on the overall security landscape of the district. The discussions delved into formulating strategies to address challenges posed by disruptive elements on the ground, emphasising the need for a robust response.
After reviewing the security arrangements across the district, IGP Birdi announced the adoption of strong measures against individuals propagating a terror narrative on social media platforms. He issued directives for impartial and stern action against law violators, stressing the importance of a well-prepared response to security incidents.
Scrutinising the crime landscape, IGP Birdi prioritised addressing crimes against women. He highlighted the significance of surveillance on criminal elements and emphasized its role as a deterrent.
Meanwhile, IGP Birdi counselled officers to prioritize thorough investigations in UAPA cases, aiming for the conviction of the accused and effective management of the terrorist eco-system.
In addition to addressing security concerns, IGP Kashmir instructed police officers to enhance efforts in combating drug-related activities within the region. He underscored the seriousness of the issue, urging the police force to dedicate themselves to eradicating the threat of drug trafficking for the community’s welfare.
Expressing faith in collaborative efforts, IGP Birdi reiterated the commitment to maintaining public safety and fostering a secure environment. He directed the officers to proactively engage with community members to promote peace and harmony.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Inspector General CKR Sujit Kumar, Senior Superintendent of Police Ganderbal, Nikhil Borkar, and other senior police officers. Following the meeting, IGP Kashmir inaugurated a multi-purpose Canteen and Recreation Hall at DPL Ganderbal, inspecting the infrastructure and facilities within the premises.
