With advent of NEP2020 significant and innumerable modifications occur in pedagogical setups in entire educational sector– be it primary, secondary and higher education. The policy is comprehensive framework for education as well as vocational training both in rural and urban areas. The NEPs framework aims to transform Indiaโ€™s education system by 2030. Events and programs are frequently conducted to appraise the stakeholders about NEPs pros and cons. Methodology of teaching underwent profound modifications like activity based, thought provoking, reasoning, logical and problem solving sessions. Conventional teaching is viewed as an obsolete but mechanical teaching based on pratical, critical, creativity, logical holds high esteem in contemporary classrooms.

 

There is no doubt that teaching serves as a poignant tool in dissemination of knowledge. We can’t believe in quality education without embracing modern teaching aids- which aims at holistic development. Without inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong opportunities for all– Nations will not succeed in achieving gender equality and breaking the cycle of poverty that is leaving millions of children, youth and adults behind.

 

The present pedagogical method focuses more on improving learners intellect behaviour by using various new and innovative ideas rather than making them recite the syllabus to clear the examination. It has been observed in past few years that students resorting to any extent by doing suicides or swallowing of poisonous substances to end their life. Thank God, with the introduction of grade system and new techniques we have been able to end this culture once for all. Learners active participation both in curricular and extra-curricular build their knowledge and sharpen their skill termed as a constructive approach. New demand and need of the hour for students is to embrace contemporary teaching methods which will also help in reducing the competition among peers, promote cooperation and boost the health study environment.

 

Undoubtedly, the well-known term in pedagogical method is โ€œFlipped Classroomโ€ which is quite
unique and modern used in contemporary times. Under this method peers study new material and content at home by themselves and practice the same at school. Students are given content at school and practice on it at home. The students practice this method at home by watching a video tutorial, browsing online, or work on the content usually shared by the teacher. Student don’t need to complete the homework at home, inspite of that they end it at school.

 

There is an immense need for innovative methodology of teaching in schools and colleges based on demonstration, questioning, pratical, activity-based, and collaboration methods. The peers should be introduced with modern teaching techniques and are provided sufficient knowledge so that they can create opportunities for themselves and others.

 

Over the years, teaching in classroom during our time was quite contrary with current, teachers used to come in classroom holding chalk-talk method who can only provide basic knowledge of science and other subjects in a conventional way. The students on the other hand were holding school bag on their back- Takhti (modern slate) in the right hand looks a symbolic gesture of thousand school going children. The fear of being punished while cheeking it’s legible writing in morning assembly was nothing more than an uphill task. Corporal punishment was prevalent during that time. During school hours and after we never dare to cross before our teachers, checking cleanliness every Friday in the morning assemblyย  was a sort of activity we never forgot. Significance of such conventional teaching can never be overrated but only the era is gone. Their approach can no longer be used as this is outdated and is with limited scope.

 

Modern teaching and learning process is undoubtedly the need of an hour because of its relevance in the modern era. The learners demand new techniques and methods to gain knowledge which specializes them not only in theoretical study but ensures them to provide pratical knowledge, sharpen their skill and make them educated to face any kind of challenges. Under modern methodology of teaching, teachers asks the students/peers to form small group or work as an individual to perform the learning tasks and come up with the desired results. It helps them to gather knowledge from one another. With this peers learn to work together with a sense of cooperation. It also work in their favour when they step out in the outer world.

 

To put in succinct, modern methodology of teaching is integrativeโ€”in which teacher links the topic of various subjects especially in social sciences, like drug use, domestic violence, pollution, food distribution, crime etc. by integrative peers/students can gain bulk of knowledge of more topics. To provide more and useful platform schools are coming up with collaborative learning in the form of interactive and ICT labs. With modern teaching method teachers can also form a group of students where they can solve their problem, debates on topics, group discussions, and clear their queries. This helps in developing social skills and allows students to understand the subject faster.
