The Jammu and Kashmir Road Transport Corporation (JKRTC) along with District Administration Budgam on Saturday inaugurated electric bus service on Chadoora-Srinagar route in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
Manzoor Ahmad Sheikh, Assistant Transport Officer (ARTO) Budgam, told the Rising Kashmir that ten electric buses have been made functional on the Srinagar-Chadoora route and will ply from Chadoora to Jahangeer Chowk to SKIMS Soura through the Qamamwari route on daily basis.
“This is the first JKRTC service that will ply directly from Chadoora to the SKIMS Soura route through the Jahangir chowk to the Qamarwari route towards the SKIMS Soura,” Sheikh Said.
He said that these buses will ply on a daily basis from Chadoora to Srinagar, as there are ten seats p reserved for women. The rate that has been fixed by the government is very low as compared to private vehicles.
“These electric buses will cover the many areas of the Budgam and Srinagar districts. Passengers will get a lot of relief through this facility, which has been made available for the welfare of the general public by the Jammu and Kashmir Government,” ARTO Budgam said.
He further said that Deputy Commissioner of Budgam, S. F. Hamid have made general public aware of the bus fare, timing, and reservation of seats for women who are going to travel on these electric buses on a daily basis.
