Srinagar, Feb 23 :The Employees Joint Action Committee Jammu Kashmir (EJAC) held an important executive meeting in Srinagar, chaired by Senior Trade Union Leader and President EJAC Fayaz Ahmad Shabnam. The purpose of the meeting was to further strengthen the organization and strategize on addressing the long-standing issues faced by employees across various departments, particularly focusing on the regularization of all types of temporary employees who have been serving as daily wagers, casual laborers, and need-based workers for decades.

During the meeting, EJAC leadership reviewed the recent Core Group meeting with the esteemed Chief Secretary, Shri Atal Dullo. Members appreciated the efforts made by EJAC leadership to highlight the employees’ issues and present them to the authorities. The members welcomed the Chief Secretary’s commitment to consider key demands such as the regularization of over 60,000 temporary employees and the implementation of the Minimum Wage Act.

The meeting also emphasised the need for unity among various employees’ organizations to form a strong and effective voice. EJAC leadership expressed hope that a unified platform representing the interests of more than 500,000 employees would soon come into existence.

At this occasion, EJAC leadership also warned employees to be cautious of self-proclaimed leaders who misuse the support of innocent employees for political agendas.

Additionally, senior leader Bashir Ahmad Thokar, along with his supporters, was welcomed into the organization. Bashir Ahmad Thokar is a long-time leader who has made countless sacrifices over the past two decades, especially for the rights of the teaching community, and has been fighting for the rights of employees. EJAC leadership expressed strong hope that Thokar’s inclusion would further strengthen the organization’s mission.
