Jammu, Mar 17: In preparation for the upcoming 2024 LokSabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has successfully delivered the requisite Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) to all districts of the Union Territory (UT).
Sources confirm that the EVMs dispatched by the ECI have been securely received by each of the 20 districts in J&K and are now stored in strong rooms under stringent security measures.
District Electoral Officer (DEO) Rameshwar, speaking to Rising Kashmir, affirmed, “We have received the required number of EVMs from the ECI for conducting 2024 LokSabha polls in the Union Territory of J&K.
These EVMs have been stored/kept in the strong rooms under tight security.”
In Jammu, the EVMs are housed at Government Polytechnic College at BikramChowk, with security forces maintaining a vigilant presence in and around the premises.
The deployment of EVMs from the strong rooms to each polling booth across J&K UT will be executed under strict security protocols, utilising GPS-equipped vehicles.
The elections for 5 LokSabha seats of J&K will start from April 19.
