Kulgam, Jun 09: Police on Friday claimed that they have apprehended a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession in the Devsar area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
According to an official, a police squad led by station house officer (SHO) Devsar set a Naka near Gund Tankipora and nabbed one suspected individual.
“The apprehended person has been identified as Umer Nazir, son of Nazir Ahmad Lone, a resident of Sonigam Kulgam, and in his possession, police recovered three grams of Heroin-like substance,” he said.
He said, the suspect was apprehended and taken to police station Devsar, where he remains in police custody.
He stated that the police had lodged a complaint at Police Station Devsar under FIR No. 55/2023 U/S 8/21 of the NDPS Act, and that further investigation will follow.
Earlier Kulgam Police tweeted and said, “Mission Drugs free Kulgam – Kulgam police arrested a drug peddler; Umer Nazir Lone R/O Sonigam & recovered 03 grams of Heroin like contraband. Case FIR No.55/2023 U/S8/21 of NDPS Act stands registered at PS Devsar & investigation has been taken up.”
