Srinagar, Feb 12: J&K Waqf Board Chairperson Dr. Syed Darakhshan Andrabi Wednesday launched the video album ‘Soun Alamdar’, based on the verses of Hazrat Sheikh-ul-Aalam (Nund Reshi RA), at an impressive function held at Tagore Hall, Srinagar. The video, sung and directed by renowned musician and filmmaker Aejaz Rah, was produced in collaboration with Elfa International.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Andrabi emphasised the universal appeal of Sufi teachings and the importance of spreading this spiritual wisdom globally. “The message of Sufis has a universal appeal, and we need to carry this message to the whole world,” she said. She highlighted the rich spiritual legacy of Kashmir and stressed the responsibility of preserving and sharing the wisdom of Rishis and Peers with future generations.
She further stated that modern digital platforms and social media should be leveraged to ensure that the teachings of Hazrat Sheikh-ul-Aalam RA reach a wider audience. “The video album will connect our spiritual heritage with the new generation while also taking the Kalaam of Alamdar to global viewers in an impressive way,” she added.
Dr. Andrabi also urged the youth to stay connected to the tradition of spirituality by visiting Sufi shrines, highlighting the Waqf Board’s ongoing efforts in transforming spiritual sites across J&K over the past 35 months. The event was attended by Director News Doordarshan Salman Qazi, eminent writer, thinker, and poet Dr. Satish Vimal, and writer and Waqf Board member Dr. G.N. Haleem, who were guests of honor. Dr. Andrabi felicitated Aejaz Rah and his team for their contribution to preserving Kashmir’s spiritual heritage through this significant production.
The function was elegantly anchored by renowned broadcaster Rasheed Nizami, and Dr. Andrabi later addressed the media, answering various questions from journalists.
