DLSA Anantnag celebrates National Legal Services Week

In continuation to the plan of action formulated by JK LSA, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Anantnag celebrated National Legal Services Week from November 02 to November 09, 2023 by organizing different programmes across the district.

During the week, DLSA Anantnag organized door to door campaigns in different villages and down trodden areas of the district through its Paralegal Volunteers and Panel Lawyers.

It also organized programs for jail inmates, which was attended by Superintendent District Jail Anantnag along with staff members and inmates of the jail and on behalf of DLSA the programme was addressed by LADCs by staff members and PLVS. Idrees Magrey was the main resource person for the said programme.

While concluding the week on 09 of November, DLSA Anantnag under the aegis of Chairman DLSA Anantnag, Jaffer Hussain Beg organized two awareness programmes,

The programme organised at District Court Complex Anantnag was presided over by Chairman DLSA Anantnag and was attended by Secretary DLSA, Judicial Officers, Bar Members, Panel Lawyers, PLVS and Staff Members.

On this occasion, Secretary DLSA Anantnag, Tabassum Qadir gave a powerpoint presentation on the importance and role of Legal Services institutions at District and Tehsil level, the importance of the concepts of free legal aid, prelitigation, mediation, conciliations and arbitration were highlighted.

Chairman DLSA Anantnag appreciated work done by DLSA Anantnag so far and the awareness camps organized by it. In his address, he sought cooperation from lawyers for trying to resolve the disputes amicably and laid emphasis for organizing a special awareness campaigns/ counseling sessions viz a viz matrimonial disputes.

Another awareness programme was organized by DLSA in collaboration with District Social Welfare Officer Anantnag at Town Hall Anantnag.

The programme was attended by Secretary DLSA and TSO Anantnag with staff members, Panel Lawyers, PLVs, Anganwadi Workers staff from One Stop Centre and DHEW and Sr. Citizens of District Anantnag.

The National Legal Services Day was also celebrated by all the Tehsil Legal Services Committees of District Anantnag at their concerned quarters.
