Kupwara, July 21: The 6th District Kupwara Chess Championship 2023, a highly anticipated two-day event, concluded with resounding success at the Government Boys Higher Secondary School in Kupwara. O
Organized by the Kupwara Chess Association in collaboration with the All Jammu & Kashmir Chess Association and sponsored by the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council, the championship witnessed an overwhelming participation of more than 130 talented chess players from various areas of Kupwara.
The championship’s opening ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of Mehraj-ud-din Shah, the Principal of BHSS Kupwara, who inaugurated the event with encouraging words, inspiring the participants to exhibit their best performances and chess prowess. Throughout the competition, the players showcased exceptional skills, strategic thinking, and sportsmanship, creating a friendly yet fiercely competitive environment that kept spectators on the edge of their seats.
The nail-biting matches and intense moments reached their pinnacle during the closing ceremony, where Navtaj Chopra, the esteemed Chief Guest, acknowledged the efforts of the participants and lauded the Kupwara Chess Association for promoting chess within the district. Chopra distributed prizes to the deserving winners in various categories and congratulated them on their outstanding achievements.
The Kupwara Chess Association extended its heartfelt gratitude to the All Jammu & Kashmir Chess Association and the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council for their unwavering support and sponsorship, which played a pivotal role in making the championship a grand success.
The 2-day District Kupwara Chess Championship 2023 not only showcased the incredible talent of the district’s chess players but also served as a platform to foster camaraderie and sportsmanship among the participants. With such remarkable success, the organizers are hopeful that the championship will continue to grow and inspire more young minds to embrace the intellectually stimulating game of chess.
