Ganderbal, Sept 06: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Traffic, Ajit Singh, conducted an official visit to Sonamarg in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, accompanied by officers of the Traffic Police, to assess the traffic management system in the area. During his visit, the DIG inspected the weigh bridge established by the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) and took stock of its operations.
MVD employees stationed at the weigh bridge provided a detailed briefing to the DIG on the current traffic situation in the region. They highlighted the significant reduction in overloading due to strict enforcement measures and the imposition of fines on overloaded freight vehicles.
The DIG expressed satisfaction with the measures in place and emphasized the importance of maintaining smooth traffic flow, especially in tourist-heavy areas like Sonamarg.
