Poonch, July 31: DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range Dr Mohd Haseeb Mughal (IPS) on Monday sensitised the police and investigative officers here about the latest challenges posed by drones. He stressed on the need of understanding the ever-increasing ambit of border issues vis-a-vis drone dropping and related crimes.
“The police officers need to upgrade their knowledge and practical skills to investigate such crime,” he added.
The DIG RP Range in his detailed presentation elaborated the types of drones, their use and the technology involved in it besides understanding the working and functioning of the drones.
The pictures and videos-documentaries of the drone threats were displayed during the presentation. Further, the drone dropping in the border areas was shown to the officers so that they get the actual ground feel of the challenge.
Mitigation measures available to counter the drone challenges were also discussed with the officers so as to prepare them for the field challenges and investigation.
Dr Haseeb also demonstrated to the officers while handling the drone; as evidence, what precautions are required to be taken, and how to proceed for identification, preservation and collection of forensic pieces of evidence.
He highlighted the role of drone challenges awareness in the current scenario and urged the participants to understand the fundamentals of drone technology in order to stay relevant in the present times.
He briefed the gathering about the digital evidence available with a drone, how to collect, preserve, analyse and utilise them for substantiating the offences during the investigation of the cases.
Dr Mughal emphasised that such presentations for the upkeep of knowledge and skill will be a regular feature of RPHQ Rajouri so as to equip the field officers to tackle unprecedented technological challenges-crimes in the future. The SSP Poonch thanked the DIG RP Range for making such a valuable and information-packed presentation for police officers.

‘Smooth, peaceful conduct of Shri Budha Amarnathji Yatra a priority’
DIG Rajouri/Poonch Range took Stock of security arrangements of Shri Budha Amarnath Ji Yatra at Mandi, today.
DIG RP Range Dr Haseeb Mughal (IPS on Monday assured of a smooth and peaceful Shri Budha Amarnathji Yatra which is going to start on August 17 and will conclude on the 30th of the month.
Dr Mughal convened a security arrangements review meeting with all the stakeholders at Mandi and discussed various issues pertaining to the smooth conduct of the yatra. Among the civil society members, the prominent people present in the meeting included Taj Mir, Shamim Ganai, Shehzad Khan, Nissar Peer, Haji Mohd Ashraf, Surinder Singh, Asger Ali, and others.
They appraised the DIG RP Range about the various issues being faced like the dilapidated condition of Mandi-Poonch road, lighting of the town through solar light, installation of CCTV cameras, upkeep of the alternate new college road, etc.
Dr Haseeb assured all the civil society members that wherever required, CCTV cameras will be installed in addition to the cameras already installed and all other issues will be taken up with the concerned authorities.
The DIG was accompanied by SSP Poonch Vinay Kumar, JKPS, Additional SP Poonch Mushim Ahmed, SHO Mandi Inspector Mukhtiyar Ali, besides officers of CRPF and intelligence agencies. The civil society Mandi hailed the good work being done by the Poonch Police in curbing crime and the menace of drugs in particular. They assured the police team of all the cooperation for a peaceful and successful yatra.
